Okay, so you’ve been given a warranty booklet with many pages explaining what is covered and what your duties are as a homeowner. Now what? We can help you breakdown the warranty in easy to understand language. The warranty booklet is usually written in First Year Coverage, Second Year Coverage and Structural Defect Coverage.
The easiest way to read the warranty is to find your particular defect then search for it in the applicable warranty document. The warranty documents are dated, and it is best to determine which booklet applies to your home. For example, if you closed on your home in 1999, then a booklet dated 2000 would not apply to your home. The Warranty Administrator can usually mail to you the applicable warranty document if you did not receive one at closing. |
